Element: Determine job requirements
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
  • Select and use personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
  • Identify job requirements from specifications
       
Element: Establish entry requirements, authorisations and ownership
  • Establish legal possession and verify in accordance with SOPs
  • Establish safe type, locking mechanism and other relevant information from appropriate sources and in accordance with organisational and customer requirements
  • Establish nature of problem and circumstances of prior operation in accordance with SOPs, using inspection and diagnostic techniques and original specifications
  • Select appropriate entry method in accordance with specific circumstances, customer requirements and SOPs
  • Determine appropriate location of work and arrange safe removal if required
       
Element: Gain entry to fire and security containers
  • Identify site access requirements and make appropriate arrangements
  • Identify hazards, implement controls and make area safe to gain entry
  • Observe safe work practices to minimise risk of injury to self or others in accordance with procedures and organisational requirements
  • Select appropriate tools, equipment, materials and consumables for entry requirements and check for serviceability in accordance with manufacturer specifications and SOPs
  • Gain entry in accordance with applicable legislation, codes, regulations and standards

  • determine required replacement and/or repaired parts for reassembly
  • Inspect locking system, test and adjust as necessary for compliance to original factory assembly and functioning

  • Complete documentation and process in accordance with SOPs
  • Clean work area, tools and equipment and store in accordance with SOPs
  • Clean safe and return to serviceable condition
  • Advise customer of work undertaken, further recommended actions and any other relevant information
  • Instruct customer, in accordance with job needs, organisational procedure and manufacturer recommendations

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
